Thanks to the use of Forged Carbon technology, we have created a pure performance part, were lightweightness, stiffness, strength, and low friction meet to be part of a non-precedent masterpiece, making you even faster.

FORGED CARBON

Forged Carbon is a new manufacturing process of carbon fiber parts, based on the application of high pressure and temperature to a composite of discontinuous carbon fibers pattern and resin. In this composite, carbon fibers are distributed in a much more homogeneous disposition, providing a more isotropic-like behavior structure. The integration of this cutting-edge technology, combined with one of our latest development progress, had lead us to a Patent Pending innovation that overwhelms everybody.

SPECIAL PATTERN

A precise cut pattern is crucial to achieve the required distribution of fibers in the desired directions, each carbon piece is cut with a CNC router to ensure a perfect material fitment

WEIGHT CONTROL

We calculate the mass variation before and after the forge to ensure the final piece has the right proportion of resin.

HIGH PRESSURE MOLDING

Forged reaching high pressure and temperature levels, perfectly balanced for an optimal curation.

Every carbon piece is carefully placed and post-processed by hand, so we can deliver nothing but excellence.

Patent pending technology

thanks to a controlled compression process of a specific carbon pattern design, carbon fibers enter each teeth geometry providing a structural organization with an unimaginable strength impossible to be achieved with any other manufacturing process.

Gemini tooth design

A Narrow-Wide design, developed to improve chain retention and prevent debris build-up and to get the most out of the Forged Carbon.

CHAIN STRES AND FRICTION

During any ride, pedal loads applied on the crank are transferred to the rear wheel through the chain. As a result, the top part of the chain is under tension, generating a critical amount of stress on the upper teeth of the chainring.

Our challenge was to develop an optimized internal structure for each tooth to resist this stress accumulation and reduce friction.

CFT TECHNOLOGY

Unlike any other carbon fiber chainring, Rigel is made of Forged Carbon Fiber, a controlled high-pressure process of a specific carbon pattern design, where short carbon fibers are pushed towards each tooth following its shape.

The technology for achieving this great and continuous organization of carbon fibers inside the teeth is what we call “CFT” and is key to reaching the highest strength for the gear.

NARROW WIDE DESIGN

The use of pairs of teeth based on a Narrow-Wide design is key for a perfect adaptation to chain links, ensuring the Rigel-Chain mechanism will always perform successfully.

T SHAPE SECTION

We optimized the wide tooth’s section design, with a T-shape against the typical cross-section, maximizing the material in the area where compression stresses appear to gain resistance.

EXTRACTION OF DIRT FLOW

On the valleys between every tooth, the Rigel integrates an extra space to ensure the accumulation of dirt does not pull the chain out of the gear. Furthermore, the side forward edges help the evacuation of outcoming particles from the valleys, to avoid the debris build up during the ride.

HIGH SHARK FIN PROFILE

Compared to other tooth designs, Rigel has a greater tooth height which improves chain retention, minimizing the possibility of having a chain detachment. The Shark Fin profile gives extra structural power to the gear, at the same time that provides the mechanism more grip and security.
