LAYUP VERSIONS

Aware that nowadays users are more aware of their needs on their bike, we have developed two versions of layup in the construction of our components, using the best technology applied in both but with small differences so you can get the most out of your GEMINI.

PERFORMANCE LAYUP CHARACTERISTICS

For those who want to get the most out of every pedal stroke, making the most of the stiffness of the components, we have developed a special high-performance layup, which although it adds 20-30 grams to the set compared to the Ultra Light version, it will allow you to make the most of every watt of energy your body generates. Designed for XC use for a rider up to 120 kg.

LIGHTWEIGHT LAYUP CHARACTERISTICS

For the weight freaks, the Ultra Light layup version has been developed and optimized to the maximum to shave off any extra gram of weight in the Lightweight layup version, creating one of the lightest seatposts on the market, with a record weight in the 250mm 27.2 version of only 66 grams while maintaining a spectacular aesthetic. Designed for XC use for a rider weighing up to 90 kg.

FAQ’S
IS IT COMPATIBLE WITH STANDARD SEAT TUBE HOUSINGS?

Yes, the different Älsak diameters are designed according to the different existing seat tube standards. To know yours, check the inside diameter of your bike’s seatpost housing and you will know which Älsak diameter to choose.

IS IT COMPATIBLE WITH ALL TYPES OF SADDLE RAILS?

Yes, our clamp system makes it fully compatible with any standard saddle rail, from circular to oval.

CAN I HAVE AN ÄLSAK SEATPOST AT THE LENGTH I WANT?
Of course, you can choose from our 250, 300, 350 and 400 mm length options. For each length option, the fastener clamping area is specifically positioned about its base, so that the Seatpost can only be mounted within the delimited area. This is why if you wish to shorten the length of the Älsak seatpost, you must select an STD option, as it is not possible to cut the tube.
CAN I CUT THE SEAT POST?

You cannot cut the seatpost, the carbon layup is optimized for each length, you have to choose which length fits your measurements and choose that length when ordering.

HOW DO I CHOOSE THE RIGHT LENGTH?

Here we explain in detail how to choose the right seatpost length for your bike.

The first thing to do is to take a tape measure and the bike where you want to mount your ÄLSAK seatpost. You should measure the length from the saddle clamp to the saddle rails. This length is the “effective length” of seat post you need.

Consult the following table, you will see that there are two columns indicating: “minimum effective length” and “maximum effective length”, find the seatpost length where the value you have previously measured on your seatpost is between the maximum and minimum measurement. Check in the same table to which seatpost length this effective length refers and you will have found the seatpost you need!

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN UD AND 12K CARBON FINISHES?

Both options only determine the carbon fiber pattern of the last layer of the seatpost, while the internal structure is the same for all options, performing exactly the same under riding stresses. The UD (unidirectional) pattern is a fiber distribution where all carbon fibers are parallel to each other, in one direction only. On the other hand, a 12K pattern is a fiber distribution where the fibers are woven in groups, visually forming a grid pattern across the surface.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GLOSS AND MATTE FINISHES?

Both options only determine the finish of the last coat of coating on the seatpost. A gloss finish is completely smooth and generates very defined light reflections, while a matte finish is characterized by more texture, which makes the reflections on the surface much more diffuse.

HOW CAN A SEATPOST BE SO LIGHT?

The main key to Älsak’s incredible weight is its hollow monocoque body. Unlike most carbon fiber seatposts, the top, where the mechanism elements are mounted, is not a solid body, and the surfaces where the seatpost elements rotate are not tube intersections, resulting in a highly controlled mounting surface, fully supported by a fiber structure placed in the optimal distribution. This sophisticated structure allows us to design a material optimization to provide an extremely light and beautiful seatpost.

I NEED A LONGER 400 MM SEATPOST, CAN YOU MAKE IT?

Of course, it is not a standard size, but we can manufacture it up to 500 mm in length. When you place your order, please write in comments your need, and we will contact you to define the details.
