LAYUP VERSIONS

Aware that nowadays users are more aware of their needs on their bike, we have developed two versions of layup in the construction of our components, using the best technology applied in both but with small differences so you can get the most out of your GEMINI.

PERFORMANCE LAYUP CHARACTERISTICS

For those who want to get the most out of every pedal stroke, making the most of the stiffness of the components, we have developed a special high-performance layup, which although it adds 20-30 grams to the set compared to the Ultra Light version, it will allow you to make the most of every watt of energy your body generates. Designed for XC use for a rider up to 120 kg.

LIGHTWEIGHT LAYUP CHARACTERISTICS

For the weight freaks, the Ultra Light layup version has been developed and optimized to the maximum to shave off any extra gram of weight in the Lightweight layup version, creating one of the lightest seatposts on the market, with a record weight in the 250mm 27.2 version of only 66 grams while maintaining a spectacular aesthetic. Designed for XC use for a rider weighing up to 90 kg.

FAQs

IS IT COMPATIBLE WITH FRAME’S STANDARD POST-TUBE HOLES ?

Yes, Älsak’s different sizes (tube diameters) are designed according to the different existing standards. To know your’s, check the inner diameter of the post tube in your frame, and you will know which Älsak size you have to pick.

IS IT COMPATIBLE WITH ALL TYPES OF SADDLE RAILS?

Yes, our clamp system makes it fully compatible with any standard seat rail, from round to oval.

CAN I HAVE AN ÄLSAK SEATPOST AT THE LENGTH I WANT?

Of course, you can choose from our length sizes which are 250, 300, 350 and 400mm. For each one, the clamping area is specifically placed, and the post can only be mounted respecting the marked range, so it is not possible to cut the tube affecting this area. For this reason if you want to cut the length of the Älsak seatpost, you must select a STD option, since it is not possible to cut the tube.

CAN I CUT THE SEATPOST?

The seatpost cannot be cut, the carbon laminate is optimized for each length, you have to choose the length that suits your measurements and choose that length when ordering.

HOW DO I CHOOSE THE CORRECT LENGTH?

Here we explain in detail how to choose the right seatpost length for your bike.

The first thing to do is to take a tape measure and the bike where you want to mount your ÄLSAK seatpost. You should measure the length from the saddle clamp to the saddle rails. This length is the “effective length” of seat post you need.

Consult the following table, you will see that there are two columns indicating: “minimum effective length” and “maximum effective length”, find the seatpost length where the value you have previously measured on your seatpost is between the maximum and minimum measurement. Check in the same table to which seatpost length this effective length refers and you will have found the seatpost you need!

HOW DO I CHOOSE THE CORRECT LENGTH?

Both options only determine the carbon fiber pattern of the last layer of the seat-post, while the inner structure is the same for all the options, performing exactly the same under riding stresses. The UD pattern (uni-directional) is a fiber distribution where all carbon fibers are paralel to eachother, in a single direction. In the other hand, a 12K pattern is a fiber distribution in which fibers are woven in groups, forming a visual squared pattern along the surface.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GLOSS AND MATT FINISHES?

Both options only determine the finish treatment of the last coating layer of the seat-post. A gloss finish is totally smooth and generates very defined light reflections, while the matt finish is characterized by having more texture, which makes reflections on the surface much more diffused.

HOW CAN IT BE SO LIGHTWEIGHT?

The main key to Älsak’s incredible weight is its hollow unishell body. Unlike most carbon fiber seatposts, the top area where the clamp elements are mount is not a solid body, and the surfaces where the pibot elements rotate are not cut edges of the tube, giving as a result a highly controlled mounting surface, fully supported by a fiber structure placed in the optimal distribution. This sophisticated structure allows us to engineer a material optimization to provide an extremely light and beautiful seatpost.

I NEED A SEATPOST LONGER THAN 400 MM, CAN YOU MANUFACTURE IT?

Of course, it is not a measure that we have as a standard, but we can manufacture it up to 500 mm in length. When placing your order, write us your need in comments, and we will contact you to define the details.
